Project Summary

Monument Labs in partnership with New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the New Jersey Historical Commission wanted to create a film series that illuminates under-told stories of the American Revolution in New Jersey through the convergences of race, identity, and justice across time.

Responsibilities

• Produce/create multi-functional documentary shorts that can be used as trailers, images, and other assets

• Administrative (participant contracts/stipends, timelines, production schedule)

• Liaise between Monument Labs, video team, participants and Revolutionary battle sites

Challenges

The film had to be created around COVID-19 considerations which included creating in person protocols and virtual production.

Key Successes

In each video in the series, the featured participants explore the question: What would a fuller and transformative history of this place require?

In each video in the series, the featured participants examine the processes of history making, memory keeping, erasure, and restoration.
