Project Summary

Live Nation Urban wanted to create artistic photographic moments across the Roots Picnic footprint in the form of murals paying homage to the band and Philadelphia.

 
 
 

Responsibilities

 

  • Source/hire/brief muralists

  • Work with union teams to build free standing walls

  • Administrative (artist contracts/stipends, timelines, production schedule)

  • Liaise between Live Nation Urban, muralists and on site staff

 
 

Challenges

One week lead time to complete the project.

 
 

Key Successes

  • Festival goers waited in lines for up to 1 hour to get a photo with these murals as the backdrop.

  • Artists received a personal shout out from Questlove via IG stories.

  • Every major television news outlet did their Roots Picnic coverage in front of murals
